Food! Foood!! Foooood!!! @ Kuala Belait, Brunei

Since I received complaint from David saying that I put too many photos of food here, I decided to put more. I mentioned to many friends that Japanese food in Brunei was superb. Here are some of the photos, enjoy~

The restaurant we went. They have a few branches in Brunei, and we went to Kuala Belait branch which is the nearest to Miri.

Inari sushi with soft shell crab. Couldn't see the crab in this photo, it was wrapped in the inari. Their normal sized sushi were gigantic!

Selina and Ming Ching ordered this, so I didn't know what it is. Perhaps avocado and prawn rolls?

Their sushi were simply amazing. They were generous enough with their material, fresh and bountiful, to ensure their customers enjoy the best quality of food. The sushi rice balls were dense and packed, wouldn't break into pieces like some other restaurants serve.

And the best was...

The salmon!

Look at how thick these raw salmon slices were?

And it's only for B$ 15. Unbelievable!

I must tell you that I am not a fans of raw salmon. Usually I don't order salmon sushi, I would just have one at most if Szee orders. So just one thin slice, at most. I really didn't like the raw fish. BUT the salmon here was awesome!!! Together with wasabi, the combination was superb. Yes, even their wasabi was different. More flavour and less pungent. Woohoo~

Temaki (hand rolls) is the must-try whenever I visit to Japanese restaurants. When I flipped through the menu, I was surprised that all temaki were sold at B$3.80. That was cheap! Since I'd tasted the legendary salmon so I ordered one with salmon and unagi.

Tadaa~ Look at it! Its size was slightly bigger than usual temaki that you can get in usual Japanese restaurants. Salmon roe, thick slices of raw salmon together with a long strip of unagi.

As you can see, whole temaki was stuffed with filling but not only the top. Best temaki I ever had! Bravo!!

Here were some side dishes that we had~

Baby octopus. Even those who feels yucky towards octopus would love it.

Grilled cod fish with teriyaki sauce. I like cod fish!! Just nice and not overcooked, juicy and tender.

Chawanmushi. Smooth and flavourful.

Miso soup. See those little mushrooms in the soup? So cute...

Enoki mushrooms. We all thought that it was a bit too sweet, so Michael finished it by his own. He really liked it.

The meal cost us around B$60. Even if you convert it into Malaysia ringgit, you can hardly get the same quality of food.

Since I came back from Brunei till now I refuse to have Japanese food in KL. The one I had in Brunei was unforgettable. Deepest appreciation to the couple, Michael & May. Must be my tour guide again when I visit to Miri and Brunei in the future!
