WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) A strong earthquake Friday rocked New Zealand's capital city of Wellington but there were no initial reports of injuries or significant damage. - The New Zealand Herald, 10:08 AM Friday Jul 19, 2013.
The headline on the day when Dave and I decided to move South to the capital city and subsequently across the Cook Strait. Great, so what do we do with the plan? We extended our stay in the hostel, while figuring out what's next.
Aftershocks continue to plague Wellington and the top of the South Island after yesterday's 6.5 magnitude jolt which struck in the Cook Strait at 5.09pm. More than 100 aftershocks have been recorded since, including a 5.0 which hit 15km east of Seddon at 10.47 this morning. GNS Science says there's a 20 per cent chance of a tremor greater than 6 hitting the same region in the next week. - The New Zealand Herald, 11:52 AM Monday Jul 22, 2013
Well, to proceed with our plan seemed like an unwise decision. Sitting in the library googling for some time, we came to an agreement - let's travel to the land of kiwi fruits - so that we could escape this city but stay away from the quake. Okay, deal.
And here came the phone calls. For interviews tomorrow, in the city.
Yay! And the alternate plan was ruined again!
C'mon, telling myself to chill. Just like what Dave and I have been doing all these while even before our journey started, our plan is not to plan. Just chill and relax la, still have months to go.
Perhaps we are just being too used to PLANS. I planned for sunset dinner in Bali and it turned out so disappointing. Yesterday I hopped into a random bus without any destination in my head, and there's where I enjoyed the breathtaking sunset (Sorry, what's the name of the lake again?).
People, life is short. I'm not telling you not to plan, but don't forget to live your life. Don't merely plan your life. Live it.
